Telkomsel Facilitates Makassar Smart City

TRIBUN-TIMUR.COM, MAKASSAR -Telkomsel, the national telecommunication provider of Indonesia supports the ASEAN Mayors Forum (AMF) 2015 and commits to fulfill the Smart City Program of Makassar. Telkomsel assists the local government to provide and supply telecommunication service not only for the forum participants but also for a long term program of Smart City.

Telkomsel will officially operate the technology-based telecommunication service and M2M (Machine to Machine) product for Makassar Smart City Program. Makassar Mayor, Muhammad Ramdhan Pomanto and Vice president of Pamasuka Area, Bona LP Parapat, declared this cooperation and partnership in Four Points Hotel (8/9/2015).

This partnership aims to support the advancement of technology-based telecommunication in public service due to the fulfillment of Makassar Smart City Program. Mulya Budiman, the General Manager of Pamasuka Account Management said, “Telkomsel commits to fully support the development of Makassar as a world city. The government may well apply the M2M in the Smart City Platform concept for the sake of time and resource efficiency.”

The partnership points will include Kuciniki, T-Drive and Smart lighting services. Those services facilitate both wire and wireless communication system among some types of telecommunication devices.

The Kuciniki service involves the information provider of Makassar government activities. It aims to assess the effectiveness of government’s daily activities regarding the attendance, responsibility and activity report. The information can be applied as valid and measurable indicators in reward-giving.

The T-Drive service provides information about engine performance and driving attitude through OBD-2 device in the port of vehicles. The information can be accessed by a particular user name and password in the website and T-Drive application in iOS or Android based smartphone.

T-Drive is a smart driving assistant which is able to collect and analyze driving data. Those data will be processed into useful information in term of individual or institutional good transportation management and driving tips.

The smart lighting provides the services about traffic light information. It covers the traffic light management, performance and traffic light problems. “The M2M with advanced technology and complete ecosystem is operationally helpful for running the effective and efficient governance. Therefore, Telkomsel takes part in enhancing Makassar as a Smart City through public safety system,” said Budi Mulya. (*)
